The Breakers took our third game tonight with a score of 92-86. That puts AIA to a 2-2 record overall, and 0-2 against the Breakers professional team. The game started out differently tonight. It was a much slower game in the first half with a lot of physical defense. We had to play without Devin Searcy tonight, and when you combine that with the foul trouble that we found ourselves in through the physical game it was a recipe for an up hill battle.
After having a quick lead in the first quarter and riding the two man game of Jack Eggleston and Norris Cole - AIA lost Jack after only seven minutes of play because of foul trouble. That gave us two big men and a lot of the first half left to play. AIA out rebounded the Breakers, forced twice as turnovers and had 21 more possessions because of offensive rebounds and turnovers. But a poor shooting night from the line and the field, no rhythm because of foul trouble and a short bench left us with a six point loss.
Bryan Davis had a dunk on a Breaker that was probably the best dunk all of us had seen live. Todd Hendley got a chance to share his testimony at half time in front of a tuned in crowd. Cade Davis had an interview published in the local newspaper. And we had another wonderful autograph and testimony session after the game.
The loss hurt badly, and the guys were discouraged, but we continue to press on and feel as though we have a very good chance to win in the next city. Keep praying as the seeds that are being planted as we go are beginning to show some fruit.
