A Commitment to Our Donors and Ministry Partners

Christian stewardship is based on biblical truth. Campus Crusade for Christ International embraces those principals of stewardship, realizing that giving is essential for spiritual growth and to the furtherance of the Kingdom. To assure that stewardship merits the respect and trust of the general public and that current and prospective ministry partners can have full confidence in the ministry and causes that they are asked to support, Campus Crusade for Christ International declares that all ministry partners have these rights:

* To be informed of the ministry’s mission, of the way the ministry intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

* To be informed of the identity of those serving on the ministry’s governing board, and to expect the board and the organization’s leadership to exercise biblical discernment in its stewardship responsibilities, upon request.

Commitment to Confidentiality and Security of Donor Information

Campus Crusade for Christ International values and honors the privacy of its financial partners by establishing an environment of trust and safety. Information about our ministry partners and prospective partners, including names and addresses, credit card information, beneficiaries, gifts amounts, and estate information, is kept strictly confidential by all authorized Campus Crusade personnel (staff and volunteers), unless permission is obtained in writing from the donor to release such information. Such information shall be recorded and retained only for the private, business use of the organization.

Campus Crusade for Christ International seeks to maintain appropriate measures to ensure the security of donor information—including the use of locked files, computer passwords, and by the regular shredding and disposal of unessential printed partner records. All ministry and remote field offices of Campus Crusade strive to follow these same guidelines, including security of their laptop and handheld (personal digital assistance) computers. Names acquired through the Internet, or other public domains, are also protected from unsecured Websites, including addresses, telephone, facsimiles, email addresses, credit card data, other personal information, and dossier files.

Guidelines for Fundraising Communications (Ensuring Your Privacy)

Communication to Outside Mailing and Other Lists

Campus Crusade for Christ International exercises discretion and integrity in truthfully and accurately representing its ministries to prospective financial partners (donors).

Removal from Mailing and Other Lists

The ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International is committed to honoring the partner’s request to no longer receive its direct marketing materials, telephone calls, emails and other communications.

Rental and exchange of Campus Crusade for Christ International Mailing and Other Lists

Because Campus Crusade highly values its donors and their privacy, the ministry does not sell, rent, barter or exchange its mailing and other lists to or with outside organizations or individuals for any fund-raising purposes. Campus Crusade will also uphold the highest security on lists of financial partners and other constituents.

Products and Services

Campus Crusade for Christ International does not offer its constituents any products and services (including all multi-level opportunities) that are not directly related to the mission of the organization.

Communications to Campus Crusade Inside Mailing and Other Lists

Campus Crusade is a highly diversified organization that operates under numerous individual ministries with specific names including, but not limited to, Athletes in Action, Campus Ministry, Christian Embassy, Christian Leadership, Executive Ministry, FamilyLife, Grad Resources, Here’s Life Inner City, History’s Handful, International Ministries, The JESUS Film Project, Josh McDowell Ministries, Keynote Communications, Military Ministry, Priority Associates and Student Venture. All mail received from any of these entities should be considered as coming from Campus Crusade for Christ International.

Each individual ministry communicates with those people who have donated, utilized their products and/or services, or expressed an interest in their area. Financial partners and other constituents may opt in or out of such communications at any time, as per #2 above.

Four times per year, Campus Crusade mails to many of its financial partners and potential partners on its general list requesting contributions for priority projects. The President and other senior leadership determine the projects presented in these quarterly mailings, and participation in such efforts is sought to help further the overall mission of the organization. Financial partners and other constituents may opt in or out of such communications at any time, as per #2 above.

Position on Gift Designation Reassignment

It is the position of Campus Crusade for Christ International that any donation given by a ministry partner in response to an appeal for a specified project will be used for that purpose. The ministry will begin to put the funds to work on that specified project in a timely manner—normally within twelve months. In the event that the designated project is fully funded, delayed or canceled, the excess funds will be reassigned to a ministry need most closely identifying with the project for which the funds were originally given.

The ministry will review gifts given by a ministry partner for an express, designated purpose, to determine if the purpose can be achieved. If the gift is accepted, the funds will be used for the designated purpose.

With appeals for projects, Campus Crusade for Christ International will seek to disclose this position on accompanying material, while notifying the ministry partner, in advance, of the organization’s position. Although the final decision on the redesignation from an appeal for a gift rests with Campus Crusade, the ministry will seek to find an alternative project(s) which is compatible with the partner’s giving interests and desires.

Liquidation of Non-Cash Donations

As the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International pursues the mandate to help fulfill the Great Commission in this generation, it believes that all available resources should be at work in the furtherance of this goal. Therefore, non-cash donations that it receives will generally be liquidated at the first available opportunity. Gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other securities will be sold immediately, often within 3 to 5 days. Gifts of real property approved by the Property Gift Committee (see Campus Crusade Property Gift Acceptance Guidelines) will be turned over to appropriate brokers/agents for sale to a qualified buyer. Exceptions may be made by senior leadership (President’s Cabinet members), as deemed appropriate and consistent with our overall mission of the organization.

The ministry will not hold non-cash gifts long-term nor seek to "time the market," but will liquidate them in a wise, thoughtful manner. Any and all resources necessary to the liquidation process will be marshaled to expedite the conversion of non-cash gifts to cash for ministry use(s) as designated by the donor. Questions regarding such procedures are welcome and may be directed to the ministry’s stock administrators by calling toll free 1-888-278-7233 or the Great Commission Foundation at 1-800-449-5454.

Real Property and Insurance Gift Acceptance Guidelines

Real Property Gifts

The ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International gratefully receives many kinds of real property gifts each year. They provide an important source of funds to keep the ministry growing. The following information is important for a prospective real property contributor to be aware of:

In order to protect Campus Crusade from unknown liabilities, all gifts of real property should be given through the ministry’s Great Commission Foundation. Acceptance of all gifts other than cash or publicly traded securities require the approval of the Great Commission Foundation Gift Acceptance Committee.

1. The Gift Acceptance Committee requires:
    a) a preliminary title report showing no major clouds of title
    b) an independent appraisal by a qualified appraiser
    c) environmental screening
    d) physical inspection when possible

2. Mortgaged property can be accepted only if a secure source of funds for payments, taxes, utilities, and other maintenance is in place. Property debt should be minimal in comparison to the fair market value.

Insurance Gifts

Life insurance gifts are welcomed by Campus Crusade. In most cases the life insurance serves the donor and the ministry as an excellent tool to underwrite the work of helping to fulfill the Great Commission. The donor should be aware of the two following conditions the ministry has placed on this kind of gift:

1. Gifts of life insurance that are not paid up and without a source for premium payments will be promptly liquidated.

2. Policies with heavy loans will not be accepted.

Assistance and Information

The Great Commission Foundation will assist donors in processing these gifts. For further information or to donate a real property or insurance gift, contact the Great Commission Foundation by calling toll free 1-800-449-5454 or email info@gcfoundation.net.

Position on Conflicts of Interest

Reference: Campus Crusade for Christ Board Resolution 2002-26

A conflict of interest can occur when a party at interest stands to benefit personally from his/her relationship with Campus Crusade for Christ International while maintaining a financial relationship with an external vendor or service provider.

A party at interest holds a position of ministry manager, director or higher with Campus Crusade for Christ International or its subsidiaries. Also, a party at interest may be a ministry financial partner (donor).

It is the duty of said parties at interest to disclose the conflict, or potential conflict, in writing to the Board of Directors. Should a manager, director, officer, trustee, donor or any party at interest fail to disclose a potential conflict, it is the responsibility of the Board to determine if a conflict exists and what action is needed to remedy the situation. If a violation is deemed to exist, the interested party will be given opportunity to explain to the Board their failure to disclose that conflict. The Board will then determine what appropriate corrective or disciplinary action should be taken.

Conflicts of interest can exist where a party at interest:

1. Or members of their families have a material interest in an actual or potential vendor firm seeking to do business with Campus Crusade or its subsidiaries.

2. Maintains an external consulting relationship without authorization.

3. Has any formal relationship with a donor, such as being named as a beneficiary of a donor’s estate or as the personal representative of the donor’s estate.

4. Seeks to do business with or borrow money from a donor without disclosing the conflict of interest to both donor and the Board.

Individuals who receive compensation, directly or indirectly, from Campus Crusade for Christ, Inc., whether employees or independent contractors, are precluded from membership on any committee whose jurisdiction includes compensation matters. Parties of interest are prohibited from participating in any committee action addressing their compensation. Parties of interest who receive compensation, directly or indirectly, are required to have their compensation packages reviewed and approved on a regular basis. All employees receive compensation in accordance with compensation policy adopted by the Board of Directors. Certain individuals, as designated by the Board of Directors, are required to have their compensation approved annually by the Board.

This statement is a summary of the existing Conflict of Interest policy approved by the Board of Directors; nothing in this summary is intended to modify or supersede the existing policy.
