Final Four Weekend: Charlie Ward to Receive the John Wooden Keys to Life Award at Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MARCH 15, 2011

"Ability may get you to the top, but it takes
character to keep you there."
- UCLA Men’s Basketball Coaching Legend John
Wooden

HOUSTON, March 15, 2011 - As a 12-year NBA veteran, Heisman
trophy winner and Major League Baseball draftee, Charlie Ward,
Jr. has received recognition for being one of the best all-around
athletes in the past quarter century. During Final Four weekend,
Ward will receive another honor - not for his athleticism, but for his
exceptional moral character, integrity and faith.

Saturday, April 2, Ward will be presented the 2011 John
Wooden Keys to Life
award.

Established by Athletes in Action and the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes in 1998, the Keys to Life award is presented annually to a
past or current college or professional basketball player or coach
who models the characteristics of UCLA Men's Basketball coaching
legend John Wooden. Wooden's legacy reflects the life-long pursuit
of a creed his father gave him at age 12, entitled "Keys to Life" (see
below).

The Keys to Life award will be presented during the Legends of the
Hardwood Breakfast, hosted by Athletes in Action and Fellowship
of Christian Athletes, on April 2 at 8:30 a.m. CT at the Hilton
Americas in Houston. Created to honor basketball role models who
exemplify outstanding leadership, character and integrity, the
Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast has become one of the
premier events of the NCAA Final Four weekend.

Inside the NBA Host Ernie Johnson will emcee the 2011 event,
featuring sports celebrities including NBA/ABA veteran David "Big
Daddy" Lattin (portrayed in the 2006 Disney film Glory Road) and
former Keys to Life award recipient and CBS College Basketball
Analyst Clark Kellogg. The event will also include a forum on the
Phi Slama Jama and a special tribute to Coach Wooden.

Breakfast is available at 800.416.9473 and
