Mark Householder was installed as the president of Athletes in Action in May 2009. Mark has been an AIA staff member for 27 years and during that time has served as the national campus coordinator, the director of AIA’s pro ministry, and most recently as the director of the AIA Global Leadership Team.

In February 2001, Mark was asked to give leadership to the AIA Global Leadership Team which has the responsibility of initiating and accelerating national sports ministry in the 238 countries around the world. Mark’s responsibilities have included serving on the AIA president’s leadership team, giving overall direction to AIA’s international ministry strategies and priorities, financial development and initiating special projects around the world.

Mark is married to Marianne, who has been on staff with AIA for 24 years. Marianne’s responsibilities have included representing AIA to Campus Crusade for Christ’s Ethnic Minority Task Force, serving on AIA’s design team and working with other AIA staff women on evangelism, outreach and personal growth strategies. Marianne graduated from Miami University (OH) in 1985 with a degree in organizational communications.

Mark graduated in 1982 from the University of Cincinnati where he played on the football team and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. As a freshman football player in 1977, Mark came to Christ as a result of the AIA ministry to athletes on the campus. In 1982 he returned to his alma mater as an AIA field staff member.

Mark is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion degree from Trinity International University.

In 2006 Mark was inducted into the Carrollton High School Hall of Fame. Mark and Marianne have been members of Faith Church (Evangelical Free) since 1984 where they have served in various capacities over the years.

The Householders reside in Loveland, Ohio, and have three children: Lauren, Robbie and Garrett.
